Wet Wet Climbing

Corporal Pete Hollick placing gear, leading

Corporal Blinco seconding, finding the conditions wet, slimey, and slippery ! - Yes they were

Corporal Hollick composed looking for any hold which is vaguely dry

Corporals Hollick and Blinco putting a smile on an interesting day of climbing

The tide is turning on the Wye

The impressive view from a belay ledge on the climb

This could be Belize, Peru, Bolivia or Even Papua New Guinea, but no - it's the Wye valley and Wintour's Leap ! Today sporting wet limestone

So Corporals Hollick and Blinco were all set to go multi pitch climbing. I looked at the weather the night before, and in the morning, and I'm SURE it said it was an improving forecast and the rain would pass in the morning - leaving dry limestone for late morning. So the Wye valley, and Wintour's Leap looked like a good idea - WRONG !! After the long drive, I wasn't impressed to find driving rain onto the crag! We thought, whatever, let's go.... Have an adventure...
The guide book said 'The easy way down'... Hmmm ... We had to abseil down part of it, in the rain - wet limestone isn't friendly !! We opted for a multi VDiff climb in the rain, and Pete stepped up for the lead. Everybody had 'FUN' - of a kind !!
Awesome... I need to go find a drying room ...lol
