Not so hot on the Melting Pot

Ross Hewitt and I mad the best of some good cold weather on Saturday by heading into the Northern Corries.  Being my first route of the season I was keen for something to set the bar at.

Our first choice was Pot of Gold on the Mess of Pottage but there was already a team on it so we altered our plans.  Melting Pot (V,6*) was out second choice.  With the first pitch not being in full nick (and consequently technical 7) Ross climbed the first pitch of the Message and moved back on route.

Another team climbing Pot of Gold (V,6***)

I left the leading up to Ross after pulling something in my back in the morning (putting my boots on of all things!).  On the upper crux Ross worked hard and climbed well to push through the difficulties considering placing runner was somewhat arduous.

After topping out we enjoyed a sunlit descent down to the Ski Carpark.
