12th June, Last Tango Then The Dervish

Beginning of Last Tango In Paris (E1 5b)

Just about to put a good nut in before the overhang

That's Last Tango done

So when I met Claire Sansom, she said She didn't mind me leading, but take her on something to scare her, and give her a good day - so I thought, right, I can be selfish here, and just do what I like. Also, I had no guide books, so had to do something I knew. Suddenly, I got worried, because 'Comes the Dervish' came into my mind.. Okay , here we go ....

I decided to get on Last Tango to warm up... It went really well, so Comes the Dervish (E3 5c) is next...
Here I am on Comes The Dervish (E3 5c)

Past the overhang / overlap

Final few moves :)

Claire coming up on the Dervish

Looking good - eyeing up the next move

Claire is about to abseil down. Am I really small, or am I really really far away !! - Or does Claire have a giant finger !!!

I was glad to finally lead it - I've struggled with it before (fallen off it at the crux !) ... Claire had to go off to work, so ended our visit to Vivian Quarry.. Tired and happy.

Trip to North Wales

Me on Last Tango in Paris

Finding the right gear

Moving up to the overlap. Thanks to Hannah Evans for the photos

My trad climbing for the year started at Tremadog with Lena, before I had to go to PYB for my Canoe week, a 2 day White Water Safety and Rescue course followed by a 3 day 4* leader prep course. I managed to spend the evenings climbing on slate or indoors with Jess for 2 days and Jay for one evening. The week finished on the Saturday with another day on slate with Hannah, 5 routes, starting with Nat Attack and finishing with Last Tango in Paris. I hope to come back and try the Dervish in a couple of weeks.
