The retreat form Eagle Ridge

With the hope of only getting some light showers Ben and I headed into Lochnagar this morning to get on Eagle Ridge as his first multipitch route.

The clouds were about and some spits of rain passed us by as we headed to the base of the climb. It wasn't until I got to the belay ledge at the top of the second pitch that the heavens opened and soaked everything it could.


Thunder, torrential rain and Lightning above our heads prompted a speedy escape form the route! The weather held up slightly as we abseiled off the climb but very quickly came back for round two as the land quickly tuned into a collection of rain water streams that were bone dry on our way up.

At least Ben kept smiling...

THe only consellation was seeing close up the large herd of Red Deer nearer the car park after a very wet walk out. If only we'd taken Kayaks rather than Rock Shoes!
