Dorsal On Saturday

So this weekend I met Chris, Helen and Jack. They're here for a quick hit of winter Scottish Mountaineering. So, day 1 of putting crampons on or using an axe the guys were on a steep learning curve... We headed for Dorsal arete on Stob Coire nan Lochan. The guys wanted a challenge so here we go .. (Chris on the left, Helen in red, Jack in Green).
The route is now very loose so we took great care to leave it in good condition for when it freezes next year..
I had to leave out the initial part of the Arete due to loose rocks, but then the guys wanted to get onto the arete so...
It was Chris's turn to get stuck into the fun first. Luckily at this point we had no wind - a stark contrast to last Thursday!!
Great teamwork among great friends saw the 3 of them standing on the Arete. Chris had asked on Friday night for some drytooling. We didn't manage to do that, but they did manage to learn to trust their crampons on tiny edges getting onto the Arete up the steep wall.. At 5 feet 2, Helen did a great job finding footholds and handholds, that I didn't know existed!
