Winter Mountaineering - Coire Leis

CIC Hut with NE Buttress, Observatory Ridge and Tower Ridge
This week I'm working for Jagged Globe on a Winter Mountaineering Course - and I'm with Robert and Nick. For the first day we wanted to refresh their basic winter skills so we headed off to Coire Leis. We found some good patches of snow with hard neve underneath. Perfect for some sliding about - or perhaps swimming in the powder. We moved on to developing their crampon technique, and looking at some snow anchors and ropework. A great day on a newly white Ben Nevis. There were lots of people out on routes like SW ridge on the Douglas Boulder, Ledge Route and Tower Ridge.

Normal winter service resumes.
