Enjoying one of the fine views of the north face of the Aiguille du Midi
We were checking out the safety of the Frendo Spur in these hot conditions, and as we watched, there was this enormous rock and ice fall down the left hand couloir shouldering the route (see the dust thrown up by the fall), covering the approach to the Spur... So this route was out this week :(

A long way to go !Day 2, we headed for the Papillons ridge, but in anti alpine style we got the 9.30 telepherique, but still got down early after lunch (although I was eating all day!). Lena managed to do most of the route in her new approach shoes!
