Ring of Steall

With the attempt to get some good views and scrambling done on Skye out the window (see Friday and Saturday pics below) Sam and I made for Fort William on Saturday morning. We put our tourist hats on and visited a few places on the way.

Friday evening...

Saturday morning...

Most importantly being Eilean Donan Castle for a hot drink and Cake!

On Sunday we headed up to Steall Falls in Glen Nevis and enjoyed a walk around the Mamore hills. The weather was mainly overcast but there were breaks of sunshine nonetheless. We followed the ridges and tops that make up the Ring of Steal.

Sam approaching the summit of An Gearanach with the Ben in the background.

Looking over to the West side of the ring (Sgur a' Mhaim on the right and Stob Ban just peeking behind the hills in the centre).

Some of the interesting rock features encountered on the journey.

Looking South towards Glencoe.

Sam en-route from Am Bodach.

Stob Ban and its rocky shoulders.

The weather almost held with light showers turning to constant drizzle and rain for our descent back into the glen and the three kilometres along the road to the car.
All done in just under 6 hours: not bad for Sam being 5 months pregnant!

After a rather damp but very successful weekend we headed home (only to be followed all the way by yet more rain!).
