Good use of bothy shelters to keep warm |
On Saturday I met the hillwalking team from 'GE Oil and Gas' to walk up Ben Nevis. Johann Urbano was working with us for the day. It wasn't a great forecast for the day, infact when I was getting dressed rain was whipping against the windows. With warm clothing packed we set off up the track. As we left the valley and got to the upper half of the mountain we entered the cloud and visibility dropped, and the rain started once again. In no time at all we got to the summit, and with nothing to see, the team pulled out of their bags their essentials - Champagne and Whisky to celebrate the summit that only 2 of them had been to before.

Good use of alcohol to keep warm!? |
The walk down again seemed to be used for planning the first round down at the Ben Nevis Inn. As we entered the valley again, we exited the cloud, the jackets and gloves came off and people started to look around and plan their next hill walk.
Congratulations to everybody, and I hope your legs aren't too sore today (and your heads aren't too sore).
