An afternoon at Meikle Partans before the rain!

Sam and I got some time to ourselves yesterday to get out climbing together for the afternoon.  We headed to Meikle Partans; a brilliant wee crag with plenty to do (and close to the babysitters!).

Re-hydrating and well yes looking like a real numpty!

I led The Bridge with the 4c finish up the corner which gives a more natural line and Sam followed me up.

Continuing through the top of The Bridge (VS 4c**)

After a short refresher on belay set up for Sam who hasn't been out much recently as she's super busy with looking after Aila we headed back down for her to get a couple of routes in.

Sorting the hood or giving 'the gun show'?

She led both Jug Wall (Diff*) and Constellation (Severe**) with great ease!

Placing gear on Jug Wall.

Jug Wall (Diff*).

Nearing the reachy top of Constellation (Severe**).

The sun was fighting with the clouds now that were providing a spot of rather ominous rain that threatened to become a full blown shower.  So in haste I worked the rather stiff muscles to get most of the way up Strawclutchers Wall (E1 5b**) in time for not only the hard move but to be rained on whilst about to commit.  in even more haste I bailed onto the top of the HVS to get off the climb whilst the rain quickly converted the coarse granite to ice like friction!

Needless to say we made a quick retreat back to the car to end the sunny afternoon's climbing.
