This morning I was out with brother and sister team; Ben and Sarah. Making the most of a scorcher of a morning we headed to Deceptive wall on the south Aberdeen cliffs.
The crag itself is set in an easy to reach location like many of the local cliffs but it also has the benefit of very easy access to the bottom of the climbs. The only downside would be the lack of longer climbs as they are limited to 8 or 10 meters. This does not detract from the relaxing setting on a good day however.
Ben started off the morning by leading a Severe and Hard Severe for something easy to give him more mileage on routes as well as anchors. Sarah followed up both climbs as second confidently after getting to grips with using double ropes.
With a spring in her step Sarah went on to lead her first ever route and then her second. Good work on two routes with an infamous lack of placements in relation to their grade!
We also made use of the Reverso at hand with a demonstration of its application in situations where you may wish to have it lock off the climbers ropes etc. All in all a great morning getting some more routes in the bag as well as working on some other ideas to keep the climbing toolbox expanding...
