White Corries

Today was Day 1 of the 'Intro to Winter Mountaineering' 5 day course with Jagged Globe. This week there are 12 people on the course. I'm was working along side Alex today. We headed off to Glencoe and the White Corries. We got the 2 person chair up onto a white out - awesome...

It was day 1 for being on crampons for most people. It was a steep learning curve, everything was new - as you can see it was all a bit much for some people !! - Actually this was the end of the day, when I told them to be 5 years old again and go for a slide - We loved it... Can we do this again tomorrow?

We covered a lot for day 1, including navigation, movement without axe or crampons, use of axe, use of crampons - then everything all at once... We started to discuss avalanche awareness, the snow pack - and most important - how to survive in some full on weather..

We discussed what we would try to achieve for the rest of the week, and eventually had to leave the snow and get the last chair down... Roll on tomorrow...
