Glenmore Lodge - Winter Mountaineering

Today I met George, Al, Guy and Gavin to take them on a Winter Mountaineering course at Glenmore Lodge. After a start with studying the weather, snow conditions and map we considered course aspirations and made a safe plan. We spent the day looking at movement techniques on steep ground on ascent and descent, stopping slips and slides, safe travel, route choice, analysis of snow and avalanche avoidance. Back at Glenmore Lodge, we had a quick session to introduce the rope and discussed tomorrow - all before the cake at 5pm.

Loaded slopes below and around Mess of Pottage - but I saw 2 people solo up Jacob's Ladder today, others walk up  to the Mess of Pottage and a large group doing ice axe arresting at the base of the Mess of Pottage slopes - with people wandering around on the snow slopes above !!
