Aonach Mor

Catching a light wind off the summit of Sgurr Finnisg-aig

Today the Jagged Globe Winter Mountaineering team headed for the easy access snow on Aonach Mor for practicing their snow skills. However the Gondola was set to start running late so we had time to answer a few questions the team had about expeditions, bowlines, and fixed lines.

Once at the snow we set about practicing our ice axe arresting skills. Sharon also practiced this last week, so she only needed a little tweaking, but the others soon caught up and started to enjoy throwing themselves down the hill.

We moved on to look at snow anchors, bucket seats, buried axes and body belaying.

We finished the afternoon with snow bollards.

Later back at the hotel we had a slide show and talk about their future expeditions, including Skye (including the In Pinn), Alpamayo and Aconcagua. Now everybody is set to finish the course on Ben Nevis tomorrow, before the Jagged Globe flag comes down at the hotel on Friday night as the season finishes.
