Stob Coire Nan Lochan

Stob Coire nan Lochan - climbing looks really good at the moment - but there were only teams on Dorsal Arete and Pinnacle Buttress Groove
Jagged Globe - Winter Summits

Today Linda, Anna and David wanted to lead the decision making over a journey around Stob Coire nan Lochan, taking in a ridge, traverse or some grade I ground. As the wind picked up they decided against the ridges and opted for tackling the grade I snow on the right hand side of the coire. They picked a line through the changing snow, sometimes scoured sometimes fracturing slab. With safety in mind the rope came out and we looked at snow anchors in context on our way to surmount the ridge. With scoured faces we happily found bum slides back to the van. A great day in the wind. Lee found me digging a snow bollard as he walked past after his day on Pinnacle Buttress Groove, and said it was hard for II/III at the moment.
