David, Anna and Linda pushing through the deep snow |
Jagged Globe - Winter SummitsOn Wednesday Linda, Anna and David headed off to Ben Nevis for a day of decision making, leadership, route planning, avalanche awareness and ice axe arrest practice. On the way in the wind proved to be a little problematic for the team (being blown over!) but they pushed on. Other teams were going up Ledge Route, The Curtain Rail and other low level routes. Later in the day I saw 1 lone solo climber descending down No. 4 Gully. We headed up into Coire Leis where we found every type of snow, scoured, ice, consolidated slab, shooting cracks, raised footprints, sastrugi etc. After a day of concentration and fighting with the wind the team were happy to be heading back to the hotel, to listen to my talk in the evening (one of them fell asleep!!! Hmmm - a long day or my talk needs to be more dynamic?)
