We headed up to the North Face with Helle, Brian and Mike with Tower Ridge as a plan A. On the walk in, a couple of niggling injuries picked up during the week were concerning Helle and Mike - so Tower Ridge plan was over... Helle and Ed Chard went back to the hotel and we moved onto plan B - Ledge Route... No longer a full winter route - but at least it needed crampons.. You can see here in this photo the condition of No. 5 gully and area. 
Here's the condition of Douglas Boulder area. Fawlty Towers area is nearly completely clear of snow now!

Always a summit photo (summit of Carn Dearg!)... James Thacker and team went on to the Summit of the Ben, but we headed down to meet up with Ed Chard and the returning bus.
The sun came out as did the shades. There are still lots of soft cornices waiting to fall - but they hung in at least for another day....
